Beauty In The Imperfect
Recently I had a good friend ask me "Do You Ever Take Unfocused Photos or Just Bad Pictures"? I than began to explain how important it is to understand depth of field. How there are so many thing to remember before you click the shuttter button. I even went down the list below on how to prepare yourself so this doesn't happen.
1.) Use the Sharpest Aperture
2.) Switch to Single Point Auto Focus
3.) Lower Your ISO
4.) Use a Better Lens
5.) Remove Lens Filters
6.) Check Sharpness on Your LCD Screen
It wasn't till after she left that Damien looked at me and said " I don't think that's what she was asking you". I than realized what a Dummy I am with a capital D! LOL
What she simply just wanted to know was... "do I ever take crap pictures"?
The answer to this is absolutely YES!!!!
You see technology has come along way. Before when we use to shoot with film and you had to make every click count and even than about half my film would end up undesirable. Now there are so many ways to cheat to achieve a great picture.
huuummm cheat you ask?
Well , as advanced as many programs like Photo Shop have become just about any image with any flaw can be edited. It has also become so popular to stage every photo shoot minimizing the possibility of bad imagery.
So all this to just say... As much as I luv Photoshop & prep work with staged photography I am learning to appreciate all the flaws in my imagery. Believe me it happens more often than not.
You see there is beauty in a candid picture like a quirky smile, closed eyes, even the occasional photo bomb. How about a little baby fussing and crying, or even a mom caught shouting out a command. You see ... in the process of making every thing appear perfect we have eliminated the memories that caused these Imperfect pictures to begin with.
I remember the image below so well. You see I had Isabella dressed to a T that day... Had my backdrops prepped and everything was staged beautifully! But it isn't the staged pics I remember & love from that day. It's this out of focus, blurry , catch her before she gets to far moment. I laugh every time I look at it and appreciate that I have it.
I have recently started including these Imperfect images in my client books.
It's ok to not always have perfect pictures. Learning to value that it's ok
actually makes me a better photographer.
I would rather capture and turn over memorable moments
to my clients than to hand them a book of just Beautiful, perfect pictures!
Make sure to check out the link below...it's these kind of pictures
that will have one laughing for years!

Creative stitching can be added to cards, scrap pages and just about any paper project creatively.

I created a stitched up pocket for this recipe card.
Backside of the red recipe card.
Front of this cupcake recipe card.
Back of the cupcake recipe card.
Green Thanks A Latte card.
Orange Thanks A Latte Card.
So don't hesitate adding your own unique stitched up project to a paper card or paper project!
Place Cards to Gift Tags
It is very common to use "Place Cards" or what is also know as "Escort Cards" to direct
guest to their place setting after the ceremony. Place cards literally escort
your guests to their table and should continue the design and cohesion of your
wedding day paper to give it a polished, pulled-together look.
There are all sorts of great, fun ways to display Place Cards. One can use lines of tented cards or cards strung up on twine attached by clothes pins or frames full of pinned-up cards. The options are kind of endless, but it does take some creativity so don't leave this detail to the last minute.

to offer you a large selection of colors and textures that include
Metallic & Kraft paper and cardstock for your Place Cards.
I wanted to also give you a different perspective on using Place Cards as Gift Tags.
With the Holidays quickly approaching or just to have on hand for some creative gift giving you can easily create similar gift tags.
Very economically priced at just $5.00 for 50 pre-scored card's.
By adding just a little bit of pattern paper & stickers, using punches to create embellishments quickly turns a plain place card into a creative personal gift tag.
Products Used:
Cosmo Cricket "Wanted" Mini Deck PP
Marvy Uchida Yellow Scalloped Punch
EK Success Small Scalloped Punch
SRM Love Sentiments Stickers
The flower embellishments were super easy to create...
1.) Punch out 2 layers using the pattern papers and two different size scolloped punches.
2.) Cut slits every 2 or 3 scallopes twords the center , being very careful to not over cut.
3.) Squish the cut scallops into your hand to distress it , making it appear to look like a flower.
4.) Layer on top of each other and glue.
5.) Add a decorative button.
Hybrid Joy Card Project Free Digital Download
Super excited to share a Hybrid project with you!
For those of you who are wondering or don't know what a Hybrid project is...
What is a Hybrid Project? Well, simply it is a paper project that one creates or puts together
with elements that are printed out of paper or cardstock.
In this download you will receive the digital file for pattern paper & graphic elements.
What you may need to create a card or project from this download:
1.) Good sharp,trimming scissors
(cutting around the graphic images maybe difficult if your scissors are not sharp)
2.) Double stick tape, tape runner or glue. Also foam tabs.
(I use all of the above but am partial to double stick)
(foam tabs are great to layer and help pop your graphics of the card/page)
3.) Any extra physical embellishments.
(in the above card I added buttons and ribbon)
4.) Folded scored card
Vintage Tags with a Splash of Tim Holtz
I am still try to catch up on lost sleep from CHA. I had so much fun getting to meet and know so many talented ladies from all over the world. It really was amazing! Every time I turned around my name was being called and I was being hugged by someone. The fun part was trying to match a face with an avatar....I didn't always get it right but it sure was a lot of fun trying.
No major new projects accept for these tags I created right before CHA.
Had a lot of fun inking and staining with Tattered Angels and Rangers Inks product.
The stamp is a Tim Holtz & Inkadinkado. I of course used
cardstock from Cut Card Stock.com. Swing by their blog to see which
products I used and how I created these tags.
